A darker sunflower variant, these soothing maroon blooms are fantastic for filling borders or as cuttings. With its multi-branching stems it quickly fills up borders with beautiful blooms and this sunflower variant is irresistible to pollinators.

  • Multi-branching stems, dark maroon pollen-free flowers.
  • Sow indoors 1.5cm (1/2") deep, individually in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame or greenhouse. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 45cm (18") apart.
  • Sow outdoors where they are to flower, 1.5cm (1/2") deep, directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Sow two seeds together every 45cm (18"). Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Remove the weaker plant, which can be transplanted if desired. Water well until young plants are established.
  • Planting position: Full sun
  • Easy to grow but if garden pests are a problem start seeds indoors. Bees are attracted to the flowers to feed on the nectar produced.

  • In normal circumstances, we aim to deliver items marked standard delivery (smaller parcels) within 5-7 working days for orders placed before 11am Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
  • Orders are sent via a DPD Next Day service. On the morning of the day of delivery you will receive a 1-hour delivery window via email or text.
  • Orders containing "pre-orders" will be despatched when the order is complete.
  • Pre-order delivery dates are estimated, and are therefore subject to change.
  • Highlands delivery is available with a surcharge calculated at checkout. Unfortunately we are unable to deliver to Northern Ireland.
  • If standard items are ordered with larger items marked 2 Man or Pallet Delivery, the items will be combined with that delivery method.
  • Please note that plants are not despatched on Fridays.

Large and Heavy Items - FREE over £99*

  • Larger items, including garden furniture, will be delivered via the appropriate courier. We offer  a courier service to UK mainland addresses from Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). You will receive an email after placing your order advising which service will be used.
  • For products held in stock we aim to deliver within 7-10 working days of your order, providing the courier is able to contact you to arrange a suitable delivery day.
  • Please ensure you provide a telephone number and email address to enable our courier to contact you and avoid a delay.
  • If we have attempted to deliver on the pre-booked day but no one is at the delivery address, the following charges will apply:-  Pallet deliveries - £50 per pallet, 2 man deliveries - £70. 
  • For bulk compost orders,  delivery will be made on pallets. Unfortunately the delivery company will be unable to remove items from the pallet or take the pallet away with them and delivery will be made to the kerbside.
  • Please note that your order may be delivered on a very large vehicle, up to 18T and good access will be required. If you are unsure whether a large vehicle can access your address, please contact us BEFORE placing your order.

  • Orders for large deliveries to offshore islands and parts of the Highlands incur a surcharge. Please contact us for further details.
